I Adore Green

Green… the colour of serenity.

I like green. Green has always been my favourite colour. Moss green, khaki green, forest green, emerald green, lime green, peridot….

Ferns. Grass. Leaves. Bells of Ireland. Peas. String beans. Artichokes. Basil. Parsley. Granny Smith apples. Parakeets. Button pom poms. Unripe tomatoes, White grapes, Ivy, Jade, Cacti, Cartoon characters such as Schrek. The Grinch, and Mike from the Monsters Inc. movie. The list goes on. Some favourites: Gumby, and Kermit the Frog. …and $20 dollar bills (Canadian) I suppose.

P.S. the photo is a violin I built once upon a time. My sister owns this violin now. The top was made from Sitka spruce from Haida Gwaii, B.C. Sitka gives this violin a big sound. The Sitka was cut down for Mosquito Bombers in W.W. II, but the war ended before the wood was needed. My instructor, may he rest in peace, ‘set me free’ when he learned I was ‘painting’ my violin green. “Just not done” he said. “harrrmmmpphhh”, said I. (btw, it’s not painted, it is stained).
